This Sunday's Nike Camp in Miami will kickoff the 11th year of the nation's top high school football event.

Designed to help elite high school players with college potential advance their football and training knowledge in order to maximize their ability, the Nike Camps have also become the launching pad for the next great stars in pro and college football.

Just this past season, all four finalists for college football's most prestigous award - Colt Brennan, Chase Daniel, Darren McFadden and Tim Tebow - all attended a Nike Camp while in high school.

The eventual Heisman winner, Tim Tebow, a 6-3, 235 pound lefty out of Jacksonville (Fla.) Nease High, attended the Nike Football Training Camp in Tallahassee back in the spring of 2005, putting on one of the most remarkable testing performances by a QB in NFTC history. Tebow posted a 96.92 SPARQ Rating, after clocking a 4.69 40, a 4.16 shuttle, jumping 32-inches in the vertical and benching 38 reps of 185 pounds.

This fall in his first year as a starter, Tebow became the first player in NCAA history to run for at least 20 touchdowns (29) and pass for at least 20 touchdowns (22) in the same season. He eclipsed the school's single-season record for total offense with 3,970 yards, and he broke the Southeastern Conference's single-season record for rushing touchdowns.

Joining Tebow in New York was Hawaii senior quarterback Colt Brennan, who led the Warriors to an undefeated regular season and a BCS bowl bid and holds the single-season and career NCAA records for most touchdown passes. In the Warriors' run-and-shoot offense this fall, Brennan passed for 4,174 and 38 touchdowns despite missing a couple of games with an ankle injury. He also set the major college record for career touchdown passes with 131.

Coming out of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Calif. in the Class of 2001, Brennan checked in at a skinny 6-3, 173 pounds and posted pedestrian testing numbers of 21.4 inches on the vertical jump and a slow 4.90 shuttle at the Stanford Nike Camp, where he was overshadowed in drills by other quarterbacks like Trent Edwards (Buffalo Bills), Drew Olson (SF 49ers) and Ben Olson (UCLA).

Also on his way to NYC is Missouri's Chase Daniel, who in his second year as a starter, has thrown 33 touchdowns and more than 4,100 yards in leading Missouri (12-2) to one of the best seasons in school history.

Daniel was selected as the EA SPORTS National Player of the Year as a senior at Southlake (Texas) Carroll High in 2004 and also attended the '04 NFTC in College Station, where despite some soggy conditions that cancelled most of the skills portion of the event, he still clocked a 4.50 40, a 4.27 shuttle and posted a 31.1-inch vertical jump while measuring 6-0, 214 pounds.

Another NFTC attendee in the spring of '04 was Arkansas' standout junior running back Darren McFadden, who put on a show at the Atlanta Nike Camp, racing to a 4.38 40-yard dash, benching 14 reps and jumping 32.4-inches in the vertical. The North Little Rock (Ark.) Oak Grove High standout was a star that day and has been pretty much ever since then.

McFadden was one of the preseason favorites for the Heisman after finishing second to Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith last year. In the final month of the season, McFadden tied the SEC record with 321 yards rushing against South Carolina and ran for 206 yards and three TDs and also threw a touchdown pass to lead the Razorbacks to a 50-48 triple overtime victory over then-No. 1 LSU. He finished the year with over 1,700 yards on the ground and 16 TDs.

2007 marked the fourth in the past six that the Heisman Trophy winner was a Nike Football Training Camp alum, as Tebow joined Troy Smith ('06), Matt Leinart ('04) and Carson Palmer ('02) in that select company.

The 2008 Nike Football Training Camp schedule kicks off Sunday at the University of Miami, a site rich in NFTC history with past attendees that include the following current NFL stars:

RB Clinton Portis (Miami/Redskins)
WR Andre Johnson (Miami/Texans)
