The NIKE Combines, produced by Student Sports, are coming to Chicago for the first time this weekend on April 1st and 2nd after highly successful stops in Florida and California.
These combines, held at Finish Strong Athletics on Saturday and Hanson Stadium on Sunday (note the site change), will give players in the Land of Lincoln and beyond an opportunity to showcase their skills for possible selection for the NIKE Football Training Camps held later in the spring.
Student Sports and NIKE have a long history of uncovering the future
stars all across the country, so
don't miss your chance to be next!
WHAT: The NIKE Combines at Finish Strong Athletics and Hanson Stadium are exclusive events and an opportunity to get standardized testing
in a professional setting. These combines are FREE of charge.
WHO CAN COME: Top rising seniors to be (Class of 2007) and all
underclassmen looking to showcase their skills for possible selection for the
NIKE Football Training Camps held later in the spring.
WHEN AND WHERE: Saturday, April 1st at Finish Strong Athletics in West Chicago from 4pm to 9pm (registration 3-5pm) or Sunday, April 2nd at Hanson Field in Chicago (5501 West Fullerton Ave.) from 10am to 2pm (registration 9-11am).
WHAT TO BRING: Bring appropriate workout gear: shorts, sweats, football
cleats and training shoes. You will receive a free NIKE Pro participant's shirt.
COMBINE FORMAT: After a proper, supervised "dynamic warm-up", players
will be tested in the 40-yard dash (using SPARQ Timing), vertical jump, the
bench press (max reps of 185 pounds) and the 20-yard shuttle. With these testing
results you will be able to calculate your SPARQ Rating at
sparqtraining.com to see where you stand with
the best in the country.
WHAT IS A SPARQ RATING?: SPARQ stands for Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction
and Quickness, the essential tools for superior athletic performance. SPARQ
Training is the dynamic training method used at the NIKE Football Training
Camps. The SPARQ Rating is a number that identifies overall athletic ability and
is used by top coaches and trainers around the nation as an initial indicator of
an athlete's potential on the field.
BENEFITS: This is a great opportunity for high school football players to
take advantage of NIKE's commitment to football, which provides players the
opportunity to get tested professionally so that they can have a standard base
to improve upon. Participants also have a chance to see other elite players in
their class, which will give them an idea of where they stand and simultaneously
inspire them to improve. After these combines, NIKE will be holding
instructional SPARQ Camps free of charge throughout the month of April in
the Greater Chicago area to help players improve upon their respective times and stats from
This is also an opportunity for great recruiting exposure and coverage. Student
Sports, home of the NIKE Football Training Camps and leader of the Student
Sports High School Network on Rivals.com, will be at the combines covering the
event as well as taking photos and video. In addition the results will be
distributed to major college football programs all over the country. Also, a
good performance can mean a spot at the NIKE Football Training Camps, which
kickoff in April.
There is NO PRE-REGISTRATION NECESSARY for the NIKE Combines. The NIKE
Combines are open events and we will test all returning high school football
players. If you have any questions, please contact Student Sports' John Brock
